J-1 Tuition Free Public High School Program
Our Public High School program offers international students a life-changing opportunity to
attend high schools as an exchange student in the U.S and live and study like an American teen.
Play a sport, learn English, and live in the American heartland with a welcoming host family.
We are offering a unique Elective Program, which guarantees placement in one of our carefully
selected groups of high schools, guaranteed to offer specific criteria students are seeking as part
of their American high school experience.

Student Prerequisite's
• Students take the English proficiency exam, ELTiS English Test online, with a minimum score of 689 points.
• Students present their updated school transcripts, as well as have obtained an average equal to or greater than the equivalent of the "B" grade of the American education system.
• Be between 15 to 18.5 years old, and have completed 8th grade in your home country.
• Have basic practical skills in both spoken and written English.
• Have completed at least three years of English instruction.
• Have not failed a year of school or an English language course in the past three years.
Time Abroad
• Students will study in American public schools for the equivalent of one semester or academic year or Calendar Year (J1 visa).
Living Abroad
• Students will reside with our carefully selected American host families.
Program Facts
• The Academic Year Program, starting in July, August or September: until May or June of the same year.
• 12-month program, starting in January, from approximately January through June (second US academic semester) and August to January (first American academic semester).
• Regional or State Request (additional fee applies): Choose regions such as Southern, Southwestern, Northwestern, Midwestern, Northeastern, or specific states like New York, California, Washington, etc. for placement.
• A Safe and Welcoming Home to Live: We strive to match students with host families based on personality traits, hobbies, curricular or extracurricular interests, family make-up, and more. That way you feel less like a guest and more like a member of the family.
• A Local Coordinator in Student Host Community: Your LC, who is highly trained in conflict resolution and intercultural communication, will be there to welcome you to the U.S. and to provide supervision and support throughout your experience, helping you quickly integrate into local life.
• Parents receive a monthly briefing at the end of each month regarding the student's life and studies in their respective location, enabling parents to stay informed about the student's experiences in the US.
• Our highly trained and multilingual support staff is available 24/7 by phone in case of emergencies.
• Students attending boarding schools will live in a supervised dormitory.
